I think that the characters in the novel added to Jimmy's problem. Victor and his friends always bully Jimmy and keep mocking that he is fat. Knowing that GI Joe was a priest, instead of a coach. Because in the earlier part of the novel, GI Joe wasn't behaving like a priest. This makes Jimmy shocked and he wondered how to continue the practice with GI Joe. When his friends bully him, he has low-self esteem and this makes him does not have the guts to report anything to the teachers.

Answer: I think that the characters in the novel added to his problems and issues. Jimmy is constantly bullied by his teammates in his football team. He also is stressed by the fact that his parents were not who he thought they were. His most loved relative, his aunt pol, was actually his mother. The mother he knew as his mother was actually his grandmother.

I Agree that other characters add to jimmy problems. like for example Gi Joe and Victor.victor and his friends
add to jimmy problems by bullying him.In page 8 and 9 of the novel it tell us how jimmy was being bullied by victor and his friends after a football match in the shower room. There are also other evidence in the novel to support this. GI Joe contributed to the problems by hurting jimmy. In page 50 of the novel GI Joe called jimmy a fat
arse

Yes, I think that the characters in the novel adds to Jimmy's issues and problems. For instance, Victor. He bullies Jimmy all the time, insults Jimmy and call him names. And the fact that GI Joe is his coach and a Priest, pressures him alot. As he is also afraid that GI Joe would expose his talent(cooking) in school. Therefore, adds into his other problems like: the recurring dream and being an asthmatic teenager.

I have to agree that the characters in th novel add to his problems. For example;

~ Victor - kept bullying and teasing Jimmy as he is bulky and this makes him less confident.
~ Frankie Fallon/Shadow Shape - by being th Shadow Shape in his swimmimg pool dreams and that has made Jimmy felt exhausted to find who is it.
~ Aunt Pol and Mum - Aunt Pol was his actual mum whereas Mum was his grandmother. And it makes him cofused to called which one the real "mum".
~ GI Joe - after a few while, he then knew that Gi Joe was a priest and it is hard to believe so.

With all this, it adds to his problems.

Yes, I think that the characters in the novel added to Jimmy's problems and issues.

The fact that he was always being bullied by his friends or rather as his football's teammates. He is frequently being bullied by Victor, one of his teammates. He would called him names and also to insult him. Another character which also adds it GI Joe or Father Joseph whom he thought to be a strict and tough person turns out to be a priest. He holds Jimmy's secret that Jimmy can actually cooks very well. Therefore, Jimmy is afraid that his talent would be known by others.

I think that some of the characters in the novel adds problem to jimmy.the characters are, victor swift, his aunt pol and his mum.The reason I say is victor swift is because, he and his friends have been making fun of jimmy's body since chapter 1.I also said that aunt pol and his mum add to his problems because,in the later part of the novel,it turns out that aunt pol is actually jimmy's mother whereas his mum is actually his grandmother. This resulted his mind to be in a turmoil.

I agree that characters in the novel add to Jimmy's problem. Victor and his fellow friends always bully him about his physical appearance when he is already very bulky which makes him upset.Jimmy cannot accept the fact that GI Joe is a priest because he has always seen GI Joe as a coach who is always hard on him and not as a calm and gentle priest. He also did not like GI Joe getting closer to him.

Yes , the characters in the novel further added to Jimmy's problem . Jimmy is constantly under the pressure of Victor of his friends , who bullys him mainly because he is fat . Therefore , Jimmy lacks confidence in himself and often negetive of himself . GL Joe was yet another burden , when Jimmy discovers GL Joe was a priest . Jimmy finds himself unable to concentrate on his training as he cant overcome that GL Joe was actually a priest . When Aunt Pol "betrayed" Jimmy in telling GL Joe he was a cook , Jimmy was afraid what people would think of him if they knew he actually cooked . Jimmy is afraid to expose his talents as well .

The characters in the novel adds on to Jimmy's problems. For example, he finds out that GI Joe is not only a coach but also a priest. The way GI Joe behave earlier is nothing compared to a priest who is usually seen as a gentle and patient person. The peer pressure he faced in school; Victor & his gang of bullies whom always bully him about his weight & fitness. The truth about his past, Aunt Pol is actually his real mother. The recurring dream he dreamt about the falcon shadow by the swimming pool. I feel that he in such a miserable & insecure state of his life. Therefore, the characters in the novel add on to his problems.

RANEESHA'S COMMENT : I think that the characters of the story do add on to his problems. In school Victor and his gang always pick on Jimmy thus, lowering his self -esteem .Coach Hamblin and Busty Bakon also do not make things better as they are always picking on him and at times using unkind words at him. At home , his mother is always fussing about him, causing him to be iriitated, also gi joe is putting alot of pressure on Jimmy, and sometimes even invading his personal space.

I think that the characters in the novel do add to Jimmy's problems and issues.
In the first chapter,Jimmy was being called names by his team mates while playing football. Like for example he was being called moron and whales.
In the later chapter, Aunt Pol actually called him fat and obese. Those words really hurt Jimmy.
Overall,i think that the characters in the novel do add to Jimmy's problems and issues.

I think that the characters in the novel added to Jimmy's problems as he is always being bullied by his friends. They always called him nasty names and gave negative comments about Jimmy. GI Joe's a priest and a coach this pressurize Jimmy alot. But GI Joe wasnt as gentle as a priest.

I think that the characters in the novel added to Jimmy's problem. Victor and his friend always bully Jimmy because of his size. For example, after the game, Victor and other team mates soak all Jimmy things. Gi Joe added to Jimmy's problem. He wants to get close to Jimmy but Jimmy do not like it. Jimmy's mother also added to Jimmy problem. Jimmy sometimes did not like his mother to control him.

I think that the characters in the novel are adding problems for Jimmy. In the book, Jimmy is often bullied by his classmates such as Victor and Maddo. If Jimmy is angry, he would binge a lot but wouldn't know that it will cause him to be fatter. He would always have the same dream every night but do not know why it happens. When he;s fat, he will be picked on by the rest of the guys and this will result him to binge, causing him to be fatter.

I think that the characters in the novel are adding to Jimmy's problem. Victor and his friends are always bullying Jimmy. Jimmy is also being mocked due to his size. Although GI Joe is a priest, he doesn't acted like one in he earlier part of the novel. Also thaqt fact that GI J oe was not only the coach but also a priest made Jimmy uneasy. Also knowing he fact that his real mother is really Aunt Pol he could not take it that gd and felt it like a blow. He had that dream and when he wanted to find out who that guy is, the only way is to swim across. He also had low-self esteem and dare not tell the teachers that truth that he was being bullied

I agree that the characters in the novel adds to Jimmy's problems.

Jimmy loves to cook. When he was in the cooking class of Busty Bacon's,he was being insulted due to his size and the fact that he is actually 'bulky'. This affects the way he feels towards the talent hat he has in cooking. He rarely gets consolation from teachers in fact he gets insults.

Another problem would be the fact that Hamblin the referee spat his whistle at Jimmy. That is something which brings Jimmy a low self-esteem. It adds to his problems as he might have lost the sense that he is just never going to be as good as the other players.

So these has shown that the characters in the novel do add to Jimmy's problems.
